“It's wonderful to have friends who not only savor delicious flavors but also appreciate the aesthetic appeal of food.”
Brunch for the Queens 🦄
Indulged in a delightful weekend in Zürich, where a culinary enthusiast and dear friend, a natural-born Foodista, treated us to an exquisite pancake experience in her charming home patio. Little did I anticipate the delightful twist – powdered sugar and luxurious macarons (also known as luxemburgerli) delicately adorning the pancakes. These macarons, straight from Paris, are renowned as the tiniest, prettiest, softest, and most adorable desserts globally.
For a unique flavor, we opted for marmalades instead of traditional syrups, spreading them delicately over and across the pancakes. The use of fresh, vibrant marmalades added a fruity burst to tantalize our taste buds. Accompanied by the addicting Parisian tea brand, Kusmi Tea, the experience was nothing short of perfection.
Delving into the history of macarons, their recipe dates back to the Renaissance in the 1300s. Introduced to the royal court of Versailles by the legendary gastronomy house Dalloyau, macarons became an immediate delight for the elite, treated as a luxurious and complex-to-prepare delicacy, almost like a jewel.
What captivates me personally about macarons is not just their visual appeal but also their gluten-free nature. Crafted from sugar, almonds, and egg whites, these petite pleasures offer a light and easily digestible alternative to traditional cakes. Their delicate and refined nature makes them irresistible.
Looking forward eagerly to more of these brunch experiences!
